Treatment planning varies depending on the cancer cell type, the organ in which it originates, and the region to which it has spread. Treatment is administered as adjuvant to reduce the risk of recurrence, neoadjuvant to prepare the mass for surgery or to preserve the organ, and palliative to prolong survival and improve quality of life in advanced-stage disease. Treatment can be administered alone or in combination.
